Red Lanterns
Published in 2026
Description
During the 1900 uprising against encroaching Western powers, a secret society of courageous Chinese women, known as the Red Lanterns, used their supernatural abilities to fight alongside the Boxers. Join their struggle against the colonial powers, restore the pride of the Chinese people, and reclaim stolen cultural artifacts. Red Lantern is a deck and tableau building game where you lead a faction to try and take control of the city by using your agents to compete for relics, the measure of your victory. As you add relics to your deck, you'll lose agents, meaning as your victory grows, your control weakens. Can you balance everything to retain control and aid the boxer uprising? Each player has the same deck of 9 agents with different values and abilities. You must decide when to make a play for the relics and when to use the agent's abilities to to interfere with your opponent's plans. Over five rounds, you'll send agents to collect the most valuable relics and badges. Each round, your agents activate once as you outmaneuver rivals and expand your influence during the Boxer Uprising. The player with the most points after five rounds wins. -description from the publisher
